East Mills Community
Track and Football Field renovations have been ongoing this summer on our campus, which will be exciting additions of an 8-lane all-weather track, new bleachers, and a renovated irrigated football field.
Due to excessive rain in July, progress has been delayed to the point that the Homecoming Football game for September 19th vs Sidney will have to be relocated. To keep the game in our district, we will be moving the game to the SWITCH campus. (Southwest Iowa Technical and Career Hub) The football field at SWITCH no longer has lights, so kick-off will be moved up to 5:00 PM.
The following schedule will be followed to accommodate the changes.
Friday September 19
Pre-K-12 will dismiss at 11:00 AM. Sack lunches will be provided
Homecoming Parade in downtown Malvern will start at 11:30 AM
Elementary students will bus down to ride in the parade as usual
Jr/Sr High students will participate in float building in the morning and walk/drive to the parade at 11 AM.
At the conclusion of the parade, bus routes will run from downtown Malvern or Elementary parents may pick up students on West 5th Street.
Kickoff of Homecoming game at 5 PM
Existing bleachers and temporary bleachers will be available

East Mills' paras participated in training today. They learned verbal de-escalation strategies, para expectations, and responsibilities. Thank you to Mrs. Rasmussen and Mrs. Knight for teaching this training!

East Mills is looking for paras, specifically in the focus area of Life Skills. These paras would coordinate with Mrs. Heard and the administration, most likely work with 1-3 students, go with students to classes, assist them in their goal areas, and help with their specific accommodations.
