EM Takes Gold at IWCC Culinary Competition!
East Mills students competed for the first time in the Iowa Western Community College culinary competition. Teams from East Mills, Harlan, Clarinda, Lewis Central, Riverside, Shenandoah, Griswold and The Council Bluffs Tucker Center competed in both culinary and baking categories.
The East Mills culinary group won 1st place over all and also received 1st place in the interview portion. The menu prepared was miso chicken, wasabi mashed potatoes with carrot ginger sauce and five spice asparagus.
The baking competition group earned an award for safety and sanitation. The menu for the baking competition was milk chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis.
The East Mills culinary team was Calee Varner, Gracee Meyer, Anna Miller, Katie Coates, Megan Hossle, Tess Copperstone, Lexi Ungry and Alex Knop.
